The decision to full-time RV

The year was 2017

After buying our first family truck in the summer of 2017, Kristin and I began to do what most truck owners enjoy most about owning a truck…hauling bricks, cement, rock, dirt, and most of all…towing! Well, to be honest, Kristin didn’t have much excitement about towing things but she’s included by default.

Enter, the Cougar…our first ever family RV camping experience! We traveled, with good friends, not far from our home in North Texas to Broken Bow, Oklahoma for Labor Day Weekend 2017.

From here, we were hooked! We renter again that spring and, in May of 2018, we purchased a Travel Trailer to call our own! In mid-May, Kristin and I left the kids back in Texas with grandparents and headed up to Indiana to pick up our newest purchase.

From a vacation plan to full-time living

It was on the trip to pick up our travel trailer that the idea was first discussed of selling our home and living full time in an RV while traveling the country. To the surprise of many, Kristin was actually the one that came up the idea, and after a ten or so second pause I replied with – “Ok!”

This would be the most significant life change we would embark on since moving to Texas in 2011. This would take research, planning, coordination, and most of all – a commitment by both of us to do this as a family. We both knew this wouldn’t be an easy task but with the help of reading stories from those that had gone before us, we hardened our resolve and dove in!

Full time RV living families often face challenges in the planning stages as well as during the experience itself. As Kristin and I have already spent countless hours solving problems as they arise, we hope that we can provide support and insight to those considering making the full-time decision as well as entertainment to those following along!
