South Haven, Michigan

What a beautiful little town… South Haven, Michigan.

We stayed at Van Buren State Park, and this was our first experience with ONLY electric hook ups, since we left Texas. (Typically we have electric, water and sewer). This just forced us to watch our water usage and watch our tanks, so they did not over-fill. Believe it or not, some people do that ALL the time. Apparently we are a more high-maintenance and we rarely do this. LOL

There we are! ^^^

Within a 10 minute walk of our campsite, was a dog park on the beach of Lake Michigan. Maddie took full advantage… as well as the kiddos!

My mom, dad and niece, Grace came from Phoenix, Arizona to be with us for a couple of weeks! We also had our Michigan family camping with us. It was such a fun family time!

We had a lot of tree-climbing, caterpillar collecting, hammock swinging, family fun.

And LOTS of Lake Michigan beach time! The sunsets were breathtaking! We won’t talk about how many photos on the beach, at sunset, I may have. 🙂

We also did a day in the actual “downtown” area of South Haven. It is just the cutest! Little shops, a splash pad, a pretty lighthouse, and a pier to walk down. Funny story… (or really, not so funny)…. the waves were pretty strong that day. There were warnings not to walk the pier after 1pm, due to high waves that could knock people off! Later that evening…. long after we had left the area…. someone was actually knocked off the pier! People are crazy…. glad to hear they were rescued and survived.

And the last notable thing we did, was blueberry picking! We won’t talk about how many blueberries were actually eaten DURING the picking process. LOL

And of course – we had to make blueberry cobbler! YUM!

South Haven was perfect! Now… on to the U.P.!
