This was one of the most unique spots we have stayed at yet…. an entire campground on an island! We stayed at Association Island KOA. After a week of site-seeing and busy in Ohio and Niagara Falls, we soaked up a week of quiet.
To get to Association Island, its a drive through some quiet neighborhoods, along the coastline of Lake Ontario. After crossing a long bridge, the campground office is the first stop on the island. Once we checked in and found our site (which was right on the water!), we then spent a week exploring! Lots of boating time in our little boat, bike rides, swimming, games, etc.
We celebrated Sydnee’s birthday – this was the only night we left the island and did a dinner out in Syracuse.
We saw some of the most amazing sunsets on the Lake, both by boat and by land.
We rented one of their pedal bikes for a day and rode all over the island, getting quite the workout in for our legs!
We also spent one evening watching the meteor shower. This was fun for the kids to watch the meteors and it was a great spot – over the Lake was very dark!
This has been our last campground that truly felt like summer. We swam lots, played lots, and sweat lots. LOL On to the beginning of fall!
Until next time!
