LOVED it here! Our campsite was fantastic. Probably our favorite yet.
We stayed at Gold Brook Campground in Stowe, Vermont. We had the most fantastic spot – the very furthest from the entrance. When we put our porch down, we could sit and look out on a large field and beautiful mountain views. Fun fact… the Von Trapp Family settled here, after they toured the USA singing. It reminded them the most of their home in the Swiss Alps.
We spent the majority of our week here at the campground. We just enjoyed the fresh, cool mountain air. Stowe is a mountain ski town with plenty of outdoor things to do. They have an amazing bike path that runs through the town. Along the way are stops for all the restaurants or shopping. There are also amazing bridges that we passed over on the path. This has also been one of our top favorite bike paths that we have yet seen! (Side note – Benjamin rode over 11 miles (5 each way) this day! We were quite impressed!)
We did do one day trip into New York to see Fort Ticonderoga. This was a fantastic learning spot for our kids, as well as us! – we saw cannons shooting, guys dressed up as soldiers, and we watched a soldier “band” perform. We also walked where George Washington walked. What a cool thought! It was a long day, so we brought Maddie with us too! (That brings up a story of a crazy lady, yelling at us about our dog…. long story, we would love to tell you in person one day!)
We took one day and hiked to a couple waterfalls. There is just nothing like a tall waterfall!! We even got to swim in the waterholes the waterfalls created. Such a fun day of water play!
There were tons of hours of playground playing and hanging out. We did see our fair share of covered bridges as well…. (some that are supposedly haunted!).
Oh! We also saw the home of Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream. This was so unusual… their graveyard of flavors. Such a silly way to remember their old flavors. And of course, we had to taste some ice cream too.
And on our way out of town, we hit up the apple cider mill…. the apple cider here was fanTASTic!!! Soooo yummy!
Now on to New Hampshire!
Until next time,
