Boston, Massachusetts, with a little Rhode Island!

The biggest highlight in Boston, for us, was where we stayed! We found the most fun campground, and we took full advantage. The name of this campground was Normandy Farms Campground in Foxborough, Massachusetts. If you are a camper, and most notably with kids, check this place out! It’s clean, well kept and has great amenities. We enjoyed the “racing” bike path, the full frisbee-golf course, the HUGE dog park, two great playgrounds and the R.C. track! There also is a beautiful, and quite large, fishing pond, which we ran out of time to use. I could have stayed here two weeks and never left the grounds.

One of our days, we went for a long bike ride on the Minuteman Trail. The trail is between Lexington and Concord.

The pathway was full of fascinating historical locations. We rode the path that the first shots were fired in the Revolution, we saw the location that Paul Revere was captured by the British on his infamous ride, as well as many locations of battle sites and burial sites of both British soldiers as well as the Minuteman Soldiers. Not to mention, the path was gorgeous!

After we did a healthy bike ride, we made our back to our truck, and drove to another location on the trail.

This spot in the trail was, not only gorgeous, but also historically known as where the moment the “shot heard ’round the world” occurred. This is the “North Bridge” in Concord.

And also on display here is a statue and memorial of a minuteman. It really was a neat thing to see!

After this, we walked around the gardens near this bridge. So beautiful!

Another day was spent driving to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Here we saw the Plymouth Rock, as well as the “Mayflower”. I *think* this was just a replica of the Mayflower… but either way, pretty cool!

We then took a drive into Boston! Of course we walked the Freedom Trail and saw all the Boston things. The kids loved it, although Sydnee found the city to be overwhelming. Lots of fast cars, people and noises, she said!

After our fun day in Boston, we spent one last day driving into Rhode Island. We decided to drive to the “Cliff Walk”. This is a scenic 3.5 mile walk along the ocean. It is known for very old mansions and the ocean views.

We did not walk the entire route, as some spots were a little more of a “hike” than a stroll. We were not so prepared for that. LOL

The views lived up to their expectations. The California ash was visible from here also – which is totally crazy to me! It clouded the sun and made the sky more orange in that direction.

The surfers were out EVERYWHERE! There were so many. We sat and watched them surf for quite awhile.

The tide was coming in, so by the time we were walking back, some of the waves were tossing over the sidewalk. They may have soaked us…. (as you can see by Conner’s shirt. LOL)

We also found some fun sea-glass here! That was a first for all of us!

This was a jam packed week, but we had so much fun! I cannot recommend this area enough – we just loved it!

Until next time….
