Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Sooo lets just say, Cape Cod is not a great place to swim, per say.

But holy moly, is it gorgeous!

We stayed at Atlantic Oaks Campground in Eastham, Massachusetts. This is about halfway down the “Cape”. It was a quiet campground with a great biking path that runs along the backside. This was key for us! The path runs for 25 miles along the Cape and gives access to shops, the beach, trails, etc. We took full advantage! The biggest downside to this campground was that they did seem to nickel and dime us for things that other campgrounds tend to include i.e. the dog, the car, etc. Otherwise our stay was great and no complaints!

We celebrated a birthday here – Benjamin’s #4! We biked to goofy golfing and had some yummy homemade cake.

One evening we spent driving all the way to the tip of Cape Cod to a city called Provincetown. Unfortunately tourist season was already over at this point, so things were very quiet. But we had some yummy pizza and saw the most beautiful sunset!

We saw lighthouses, had lots of beach time and perfect sunsets throughout this whole week. We also visited the actual ship that was used during the rescue on which the movie “The Finest Hour” was based. The kids enjoyed the movie and seeing the boat. What an amazing story – check it out if you have not! (It’s on Disney+!)

Fun fact – I spent 3 weeks on Cape Cod as a teenager, and visited these trees often! During high tide, they are completely covered and during low tide, you can walk to the furthest tree!

By the end of our stay, the weather had turned pretty chilly! It gave us that total fall feeling! Onward now…. I will leave you with some pretty photos at the bottom of this post from our week!
