Virginia Beach, Virginia

So at this point in our trip, we are on our, nearly, 4th week in the state of Virginia. There is a LOT to do in this state! We did not have a ton of time at this location, but we did make time for 4 days here.

We were pleasantly surprised at our campground – they had fun Halloween festivities! We had no idea – but the entire campground did trick-or-treating on Saturday. It was so fun for ALL of us!

The campground has a small beach attached to it. The water here was very shallow. On the warmest day, the kids took our little boat out and just putt-putted around the inlet. Maddie played a LOT of frisbee, both in the water and out of it!

We found a nearby pumpkin patch and picked out some pumpkins. We even shipped one to each of the grandparents in AZ!

We enjoyed some great conversation around the firepit with some friendly RV neighbors. They taught us more about boating and how the intercoastal waterways work in the Carolinas! It is so fun to have evenings of great conversation!

We also took our little boat out into the water to explore. We decided to adventure into some of the narrow areas with high-reeds in our boat. Things were pretty…. and fun…. until we realized the dozens of spiders in every tree…. hanging down…. and suddenly we had 4 LARGE spiders in our boat!! Benjamin nearly leapt out…. I was screaming…. Sydnee was holding Benjamins arm to keep him in while Conner and David were smacking them all and trying to get us out of there. HAHA! You live and learn….. we will NEVER take our boat into narrow, high bush, water areas again! ICK!!!! (And the smiles in these pictures were well before those spiders. LOL)

Confession…. we never made it to true Virginia Beach. But we loved this little spot. This leads us to departure day…. where, as most of you already know, we ended like this:

That is a post for another day. And we are forever grateful to Officer Tom, who lent us his yard so we could have a cozy evening after a stressful day.
