Did you know that some of our military bases have campgrounds? Of course, the civilian world is not allowed to camp there – you must be part of the military family. If you know us, you know we are not military – but we are lucky enough to have family that are!
David’s cousin was kind enough to sponsor us to camp! We planned this week with them out near San Diego and she was able to get us reserved. Camp Pendleton has some cool factors:
Camp IN the sand!
Watch the amphibious vehicles go out to the ocean on their daily drills from our porch!
Alllllll the camo and cool machines, and practicing all our military moves.
Amazing California sunsets!
They also have a cute playground and (in season) snow cones.
A lot of our week was spent just relaxing in the sand. We built soooo many sand castles, dug a MILLION holes and tracked sand EVERYWHERE!
We also spent a day at the San Diego Zoo! So fun, of course!
Oh – and I cannot forget to mention that the kiddos were lucky enough to experience military meals: MREs. Oh man – they were not so sure about those flavors. HA! They did, however, enjoy watching them heat up!
We had the most relaxing week, and were sad to say goodbye to our cousins. We did get to make one last stop before our way out of town at the Temecula Skate Park. Here we met cousins on the other side of the family! (Kristin’s side). What a fun local spot – the kids left feeling pretty rad about themselves. Ha!
Back to Arizona for some Phoenix and Northern Arizona fun!
Until next time,
