SO CAL, April 2021 | LIFE UPDATE, August 2022

Sometimes life takes a little bit of a twist. And it maybe takes a full year and a half to catch up on everything in between that twist. And that’s maybe what has happened here.

I last updated our trip in Northern Arizona, from April of 2021. My how life has changed!

I missed all the updates of weeks spent in California, Oregon, Washington…. moving on to the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho and Utah. I have all those photos, they are just waiting for me to open them and post about them!

I will slowly continue to try to update this blog on those locations and the things we did, for my own memory’s sake. The photos are still fresh in my mind, albeit a year old. LOL

We finally ended our trip in Colorado and opted to begin finding a home again in Texas. We have since purchased a home with some property and have made it our goal to completely renovate the entire thing. Perhaps a year from NOW, I will finally get around to update on those renovations! (For a more current situation, check my instagram.)

As I type this, we are prepping for a new school year, with kids back in a regular public school. Our life is about to take another twist, as we had our homeschool routine pretty well settled. I think we have decided we don’t like to sit in any situation for too long!

Enough on that… let me update you on some of the things we saw in Southern California, back in April of 2021!

Once we left Arizona, we headed for a Harvest Host called China Date Farm! For those that do not know, a Harvest Host is a farm, winery, or some sort of large land owning, prophet making location that will host a traveling person for 1 or 2 nights.

This particular one had the most incredible entrance. We. kept feeling like we were entering into Star Wars. Everything here is desert and brown, and opens up into the most beautiful green paradise! There are date trees EVERYWHERE and they make the MOST delicious date shake we have ever tasted!

They have a few hiking trails on site, so we chose to dress Conner up in a Star Wars costume we already had, and head out. It was hot and dry, but a good little hike.

Once we enjoyed our night and had our shakes, we moved on to Joshua Tree National Park!

We had heard many people say they felt that Joshua Tree was a spiritual experience for them. To be honest, we never felt that way. We did, however, love the little desert dirt spot we found to park on. We boondocked (parked without electric or water hook-ups) and saw the most amazing stars, just outside of the national park. It was an exotic experience to say the least.

After this, we made our way towards Temecula, California to do some camping with cousins!

We spent a fun weekend with them at a KOA in Temecula/Vail Lake. It was a great time had by all, with lots of games, laughs and fishing.

Shortly after this, we made our way to Ventura, California… here we spent quite a bit of time, so I will end my update here!

I hope you are staying cool in this hot August air, and look forward to the next update…. which will hopefully be before 2023!
