Hot Springs, Arkansas! (our trial run)

Well – the house is officially under contract and we have moved into our little trailer home. <3 We have reserved the perfect spot just a few minutes from our “sticks and bricks” house, in order to be accessible as we are closing on the house.

We decided to go for a trial run up to Hot Springs, Arkansas last week. We wanted to test out how all of our “secure” things will do. Mainly the Smart-Car, but we have also been working to secure all of our items and we wanted to make sure things would go smoothly.

From pack-up to hitting the road, we took about 4 hours (!!!). Now in our defense, we still had all of our “move in” items thrown up into the RV. We had to find safe places for those, move things around, bring in the smart car, secure it in a new way that we have fashioned out of wood, secure the bikes in a new way, do lots of dishes, etc.

We left just after noon and arrived around 7:30pm into the campground (Treasure Isle RV Park). We had an extremely smooth drive there, we parked easily down by the river, and for the most part, things stayed in place!

We enjoyed a fairly quiet week of fishing, biking, hiking, and relaxing. It rained lots and lots, but we really did not mind! We had so much work to do in order to organize this camper.

The campground we stayed at (Treasure Isle RV Park) was very lovely. We reserved one of the few spots down by the water, which gave us tons of space for our rear porch! It was a very quiet and well cared for park with some fun amenities such as a dog park, a playground, a pool, laundry, and quite a few fishing docks!

We also checked out the Hot Springs National Park. The park itself was open for hiking, but the bath houses were closed. We were able to feel some of the hot water coming out of the mountain, however, which was good enough for us!

Over-all, it was a fun get-away and a great trial run. Our pack up to driving on the way back was only 2 hours. MUCH more reasonable! It’s like a game to see how low we can make that time. LOL Now we are back in Dallas… we are getting the house cleaned out and then we will be on our way! Only 27 more days until we hit the road!
