Chicago, Illinois!

What a fun city! My parent’s also were able to make the stop in Chicago with us, which was so fun to have them and my niece along! We took the drive around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, through Wisconsin and down into Illinois. This completed an entire loop around Lake Michigan! Check out our cat’s tracker collar screen-shot below. LOL

Our time here was not very long, so we only spent one afternoon in the downtown area. I’ll talk about that first!

We drove by the Chicago Cubs Baseball stadium. They were in the middle of a fan-less game. How crazy is that? Fan-less? How hard it must be for the players!

We drove around the amazing buildings and saw the cool architecture – including what used to be the Sears tower… which is now the Willis tower.

Of course we stopped at the BEAN! Masks had to be worn in the park, and the bean was roped off. I was a little bummed we could not get up close, but at least we got some fun people-free photos. There was almost nobody out.

And we had to go eat at Lou Malnati’s! (Thanks, Kim)! Such yummy Chicago pizza!

Our campsite was nice – we stayed at Chicago Northwest KOA. It was clean, had nice paths to walk, and had a fun goofy golf course for the kids. The downside? We lost our cat.

Thats right. Lost him. He took off one evening. His Bluetooth would not register (which means he is pretty far). We finally found him in their storage area, sleeping on the motor of a large Class A RV (one that looks like a bus). When we found him, he darted into a cornfield – and we were not able to get him until he came out that evening. He was gone for 24 hours! Thank goodness we did not have to leave campsites (or states) during that time! And thank goodness Benjamin was ready to give him loves. The rest of us were just feeling angry at him.

We also said goodbye to my parents, my niece, and our dog Rainbow. Rainbow went back to Arizona with my parents. She now lives with my in-laws and is truly living her best life with lots of comfy couch time and a much calmer life. RV life was NOT for her. 🙁

After all these Chicago adventures – it was on to Indiana!

Until next time!
