Columbus, Ohio!

Helloooo Ohio!

We stayed at Cross Creek Camping Resort, near Alum Creek State Park in Columbus, Ohio. A little on the pricey side, but had lots to do: pools, trails, bike rentals, playground, etc. It also had a little rock mining station for the kids.

Here we met David’s brother Erik – and spent our first day at the National Museum of the U.S. Airforce. It’s a FREE admission, and one of the best displays of aviation we have ever seen. It’s our second time visiting, and both times were very interesting. Covid did ruin some of the interactive things, but overall we were able to stay interested and felt safe doing so.

That evening, we ate a fantastic restaurant… it was a Celiac’s paradise. They even had the “free” appetizer bread, that every yummy Italian restaurant serves, except its GLUTEN FREE! My Celiac heart was very happy.

We did some bike riding over the Alum Creek dam, in Columbus. It was a fun little ride for our family – somewhat challenging for little Benjamin, but he survived. 🙂

We spent lots of time with “Uncle Erik”… splashing in his hot tub at his home and eating yummy food.

The last full day in Columbus, we made a stop at the Columbus Zoo! This is a zoo we all recommend…. 5 stars from us! It’s very well done, very large, and lots to do and see! They also, recently, opened a new section with rides.

I think the highlights were the grizzly bear reacting to the service dog, riding the camel, and the few amusement rides.

The next day, we pulled out of Columbus to head to upstate New York. On the way, we made a couple stops near Cleveland. My grandparents, on my dad’s side, are from this area. We found my grandparent’s first home, my great grandparent’s home, my uncle’s school, and my great uncle’s church. I love to see where our roots are from!

We followed along lake Erie into New York – and amazingly saw a tornado on our drive in. We live for nearly 10 years in Texas, and never see a tornado as clearly as we did in New York! We safely made our way past, but not without lots of squeals from Conner. He was pretty amped to see that. LOL

Until next time!
